  • Library is annoyed at having to deal with it.
  • Derek will make a little laminated sign with basic instructions for the Keurig table.

Bylaws Discussion Claw Back / Matching Funds

  • Section 1.03 Events for Profit, Charity, or Scholarships.
    • Clawback provisions “If an event makes a profit the CSO will be required to refund SBA the full amount of money granted or the full profit, whichever is less. The CSO must refund SBA whether or not the profit is for the CSO, charity, or a Pacific McGeorge Scholarship. If an event intends to make a profit but is unsuccessful in doing so, the CSO is not required to refund SBA.”
    • Matching funds “If an event’s proceeds are going towards a charity or CSO scholarship, the CSO may request 1:1 matching funds. No refund to the SBA will be required for matching funds.”
  • If Bahar sees a profit making event make a request, she will email them to inform them of the Clawback provisions. If she sees a scholarship event, she will email them about the matching funds provision.
  • AJ wants to add “…or other cause as decided by the SBA” to the Matching Funds provision. Will discuss and perhaps vote on it next week.

      • Want to have federal practice mixer on 10/22, co-sponsored by water law and environmental law. Has reached out to the Career Development Committee.
      • It is unclear if this will be able to be successfully scheduled, waiting on hearing back from the Alumni Rep to be able to reserve the room and book the speakers.

      • Table until next week when Asha will have a better sense for date and size and budget. She needn’t actually come in, but we can vote on it when we get more accurate numbers. We won’t count it as a late request.

Committee appointments. AJ thinks that we need board approval to ratify the appointments. Will do a retroactive ratification vote next week.

Budget. Bahar split the budget in half for each semester. We are almost at budget for the Fall, but the big expenses are already behind us: Start-up funds, Women’s Caucus.
