Student Committees play a key role in helping SBA fulfill its mission to serve the student body. As a part of a Student Committee, you can expect to plan for and attend SBA events, be a part of a dedicated team, and have a lot of fun! Student Committees focus on student issues and events, such as stress relief activities, networking opportunities, social events, informing the student body, and addressing student concerns.

ELECTIONS COMMITTEE
The SBA Elections Committee is responsible for conducting elections for first-year class representatives in the fall, and the campus-wide elections of the entire SBA Board in the spring. Committee members work together to regulate campaign procedures and inform candidates about the elections process. Members must keep records of Elections Committee activities, including election results and ballots.

ACTIVITIES AND SPORTS COMMITTEE
This Committee organizes intramural sports for the fall and spring semesters, including flag football, soccer, and basketball, as well as other outdoor activities. The mission of the Committee is to promote sportsmanship, leadership, and cooperation among all participants.

BARRISTER’S BALL COMMITTEE
The annual Barrister’s Ball, the school’s largest social event of the year, is a formal dinner and dance event that the SBA hosts for students and their guests in the spring. The Barrister’s Ball Committee is responsible for planning and coordinating all details related to the Ball.

SUSTAINABILITY/GARDEN COMMITTEE
The Sustainability Committee evaluates the progress of the University’s sustainability efforts, implements initiatives such as campus recycling programs, and oversees the McGeorge Community Garden. The Sustainability Committee works closely with Pacific’s Three-Campus Sustainability Committee and the McGeorge Environmental Law Society to foster support for conservation efforts and sustainability-conscious programs.

DIVERSITY COMMITTEE
The Diversity Committee works to create an open and supportive community that is inclusive of, among other things, all viewpoints, races, nationalities, religions, and sexual orientations. Members of the Committee help promote understanding, respect for, and celebration of diversity on campus and beyond. Applicants to this committee are strongly encouraged to be participants in other on-campus CSO’s that embrace our diversity, including but not limited to LLSA, BLSA, Lambda, APALSA, Women’s Caucus, and MESSA.

WELLNESS COMMITTEE
The Wellness Committee helps students achieve optimal well being to enhance their quality of life and succeed in law school. This Committee raises awareness about campus health, counseling, insurance, and wellness services, and advocates for students. This Committee also coordinates wellness events including Wellness Week, yoga, self defense courses, and more.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The Career Development Committee coordinates with the Career Development Office (CDO) to address the needs of students seeking internships, clerkships, and job placement. Members of this Committee advocate for the student body and raise awareness about career development, interview skills, and networking events and opportunities.
