I think that this amendment should be discussed and voted on by next year’s board. We have spent the last few meetings holding off on making any sort of changes to bylaws so I think that this items should follow suit and be discussed by next year’s board.

I know this is an appeal, but I think this vote sets a precedent to keep in mind for future funding allocations. We had parties on the board that wanted a lower funding out of fear the event would be unsuccessful. I had advocated for a higher funding but compromised in the middle. I think it is a valuable tool going forward to suggest to CSO’s that if they do an extraordinary job on an event that they will receive full funding or additional funding on an appeal while granting a smaller sum on the preliminary request. Especially since the receipts can be viewed and any wastefulness would not be rewarded. I am voting “aye” because BLSA is a valuable CSO and they put on an extraordinary event that surpassed past similar events.

-Third Year Evening Representative Stephen Guichard

It was a fantastic event and a BLSA student should not be $1,500 out of pocket because of lack of funding. We should pay back the student and thank the club for hosting such a wonderful family event and as mentioned in the SBA meeting let them know in future years the event may have to be done at a lower cost due to lower number of students enrolling at McGeorge.

As a clarification, I am voting for the maximum amount (1500), not the cumulative of these votes (2750). – SBA Secretary Kate Casey

With the major surplus in funding we have left over as an SBA, I think the funds should be spent on the students who have paid their SBA dues this year. This is one way of making sure that the money is spent on the students and provides them with free refreshments as well as whole fruits and cookies to keep them going during reading week through finals. It is a nice way to thank the students for selecting us as their Board this year and also to congratulate them on finishing the school year. SBA’s in the past have upheld this tradition and it seems with such a large surplus our SBA would have no reason to not follow the same tradition as well.

– First Year Representative Chanel Saidi

Please request the goodies be provided or refreshed at a time that also suits evening student’s needs – 5:30 p.m. Otherwise, it is always completely gone when the evening students get to campus. Thank you.

-Evening Vice President Lexi Howard

Students who do not live on campus may not be able to take advantage of the benefit if it is only offered during reading week. Offering during finals week as well expands the pool of people who can take advantage of the benefit.

-Second Year Evening Representative Megan Donaghey
