Monika Troike (2D)

Name: Monika Troike

Year/Division: 2D

Which activities and organizations are you involved with at McGeorge? I am currently the Rep at Large for SBA, I really enjoy being involved in different campus events so SBA is great since we sort of oversee lots of campus activities. I am working towards the Advocacy Certificate and the Criminal Justice Concentration.

What is your favorite part about law school and/or McGeorge? My favorite part about McGeorge is that it is has its own campus. It makes it feel very inclusive. Also the faculty and students are some of the most caring and friendly people I have ever met. I’m also a big advocate for keeping the volleyball net up permanently, I love being able to take a break with friends by playing sports on the quad.

What are your hobbies outside of law school? Outside of law school I really enjoy concerts (country ones in particular), practicing yoga, watching baseball or football (GO GIANTS/GO CHARGERS), and hanging out with my fuzzy cat Roxy (I promise I’m not a crazy cat lady).

What was the most memorable moment from your first year of law school? I’ve got a few. Being elected by my peers as the 1D representative for the Student Bar Association really changed the way I looked at how law school.  I have learned so much being on the board. Meeting some of my best friends. Participating the the 1L mock trial competition and advancing to the finals. Barristers Ball and the End of 1L party were lots of fun too.

Career Goals: I worked at a Civil Litigation firm during my undergrad at UCSD and immediately knew I did not want to push papers around. So now at McGeorge I am interning at the Sac County District Attorney’s office and I love it. I definitely would like to be a District Attorney preferably here in Sacramento but I could settle back down south too.
