Chelsea Tibbs (2D)

Name:  Chelsea Tibbs

Year/Division: 2D

Which activities and organizations are you involved with at McGeorge? National Lawyers Guild, McGeorge Chapter (President) Moot Court Competition Team (Research Assistant), McGeorge Women’s Caucus (Member), Barbri, (Student Representative).

What is your favorite part about law school and/or McGeorge? I love that when I am on campus studying, I cabn look up from whatever I am highlighting to find a friendly face in a faculty or staff member or fellow student passing by. People at McGeorge are always open to chat or at least spare wave and friendly smile. We work and study hard, but at least we are together in a beautiful community while doing it!

What are your hobbies outside of law school? Travel, spending time with family, exploring cool local spots on the rivers and in the mountains in and around Sac, watching trashy (or awesome, depending on your perspective) reality TV, hanging out at the dog park with my puppy Toast, and legal observing for radical community activists.

What was the most memorable moment from your first year of law school? In the first few weeks of class, I was put in the “hot seat” by a very demanding and (at the time) intimidating Civ Pro professor. I was the first one in our section to be put under the pressure of true Socratic teaching. It was so nerve-wracking to get asked question after question with everyone watching! But, after class so many of my classmates came up to me to tell me what a good job I did and give me high fives. We kept up that team spirit in our section all year. By year’s end, everyone had a turn in the “hot seat” and it didn’t seem so intimidating anymore. I am so happy to be in the kind of school where we are peers and friends and can share in each other’s’ success!
