Location

Elks TowerWe are glad to be returning to the Elks Tower Historic Ballroom once again this year! This gorgeous venue is located at 921 11th Street. If you would like to see pictures of the venue click here. Enter through the double doors and a security guard will then help direct you to the elevator which you will take to the Second Floor. Upon arriving at the second floor you will be greeted by our amazing volunteers, who will check your name off of our guest list, provide you with your MWC Wine Glass and direct you towards the main event.

Tickets will be available at the door as long as supplies last – but buy yours online ahead of time by clicking here and help us keep the check in time as short and smooth as possible!

If you’re wondering about parking there is a parking garage located directly across the street from the Elks Tower on 11th Street or whatever street parking is available in the area. MWC encourages you  to consider taking taxis or to walk if you’re coming from Midtown. And of course you should always drive responsibly.

Wine and Beer Tastings Sponsored by McGeorge

The cost of your ticket includes unlimited wine and beer tastings as long as supplies last. Tastings will begin right at 6:00 pm and will begin to wrap up when the Live Auction begins, around 8:30.

Our currently participating Vineyards and Breweries are:

Castel Vitiello

Our very own Professor Vitiello is quite the home vintner. He will be pouring and sharing information on his own wines with the help of Professor Davies. This is not something anyone in his Civil Procedure class should miss and has long been a favorite of McGeorge Students! MWC is incredibly glad to have be featuring Castel Vitiello once again this year.

Barsetti Vineyards

Unknown

MWC is thrilled to be showcasing this small family winery at our event again this year! The Barsetti property has been in Janis Barsetti Gray’s family since 1941. The vineyard was planted in 1995 and wine the label began in 2001. They’re located at 27292 North Cherokee Lane, in Galt, California. Click here to tour their website and learn a little more about this local vineyard before tasting their International Wine Competition medal award winning Cabernet Sauvignon on Friday.

Van der Vijver Estate Winery

215867For the 3rd year in a row Van der Vijver Estate will be pouring their wine, inspired by old European traditions, and MWC is thrilled to welcoming them back! Van der Vijver Estate is located on Fairplay Road, in Somerset, California. This “Mom and Pop” winery prides themselves on using time honored European traditions in the process of preparing their wines and foods. Speaking from the experience of the past two years, we know this process does not disappoint! Click here if you want to learn more before being able to ask questions of the wine maker himself on Friday.

Lagunitas Brewing Company

Unknown-1MWC is thrilled to be offering tastings of Lagunita’s Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’, their flagship IPA, and a seasonal brew for the first time this year! Lagunitas Brewing Company is a local favorite of many in the area, being located in Petaluma. Their founding goal was to create a product that brings beer lovers of Northern California together, and they’ve more than succeeded. If you want to learn more about their beers before getting to try out a couple of their favorites on Friday, click here.

Friends of Women’s Caucus Table

MWC was lucky to have the support of a few other local vineyards and wineries this year who were unable to send representatives but wanted to donate to the cause. Therefore, we will be featuring a “Friends of Women’s Caucus Table” hosting a variety of wines this year. Secret Ravine (located in Loomis – basically Folsom) and Barefoot Wine & Bubbly are two such examples. We will also have a smattering of other options thanks to the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Mesrobian.

Be sure to stop by and check out these tasting options. You will likely recognize the faces pouring – because MWC owes a big thank you once again to our incredibly supportive faculty and staff! A variety of Professors, including Professor Levine, Professor Bricker, Professor Leach, Professor Moylan, Professor Franz, Professor Brugness,  and Professor MacFarlane as well as Rebekah Grodsky from the Office of Student Affairs and Maria Kim, from the Admissions Office. There’s also the possibility of another name or two being added to this all star line up! It’s a great opportunity to chat with a Professor about something other than your coursework. MWC cannot thank them enough for their support!

There is also the possibility that another winery or brewery may be confirmed before Friday, so be sure to check the tables when you arrive!
