As the new semester fast approaches and our semi-relaxing summers dwindle we, the board members, wanted to reach out and update all of you on the events we have in store for the fall! First let’s meet the Board for the 2013-2014 school year:
Marisa Shea, President. (She’s the short one.) Marisa is a 3L from Boston, Massachusetts. She received her undergraduate degree from Cazenovia College with a major in Social Science and minors in: sociology, history, international studies, and pre-law. This summer Marisa is working in policy/legislation development for the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence. Fun Fact: Marisa bakes a “mean” peach scone.

Dinah Mielke, Vice President. Dinah is a 3L from Monterey, Massachusetts. She received her undergraduate degree from Endicott College with a major in Psychology and Criminal Justice and a minor in Spanish. This summer Dinah is working for the Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals, Writs, and Trials Unit. Fun Fact: Dinah is training to be a yoga instructor.

Danielle Mesrobian, Representative. Danielle is a 3L from La Canada, California. She received her undergraduate degree from UC Irvine. This summer Danielle is a law clerk with the Institute of Administrative Justice, specifically with Focused Decisions. Fun Fact: Danielle lived in France for a year after undergrad teaching English at a Junior High School.

Lilly Mohanna, Representative. Lilly is a 3E (evening student) from Davis, California. Lilly received her undergrad from UC Davis with a degree in International Relations and a minor in Political Science. This summer Lilly is working in the Housing Mediation Clinic. Fun Fact: Lilly speaks Farsi and is learning to cook Persian food.

Mandeep Pooni, Representative. Mandeep is a 3E (evening student) from Merced California. Mandeep received her undergraduate degree from UC Davis. This summer Mandeep is taking summer courses and hiking whenever restlessness caused by the former ensues. Fun Fact: Mandeep has seen a Himalayan sunrise and sunset…yet has never had chocolate milk.

SAVE THE DATE! SEPTEMBER 13, 2013 is the annual McGeorge Women’s Caucus biggest event of the fall semester the Live and Silent Auction and Wine Tasting. If you have not been in to the past auctions it is an event not to be missed. Delicious local wines, tasty dishes, and great items to bid on! The Auction Board is hard at work this summer to put all the pieces in place. Keep an eye out for information on volunteer opportunities both in soliciting auction items and day of volunteers. If you have any thoughts or suggestions that would help feel free to contact any of the members of the executive or auction boards.

Rebecca Caporale, Logistics Chair. Rebecca is a 2L from Fresno California. Rebecca received her undergraduate degree from UC Davis with a major in International Relations and a Spanish minor. This summer Rebecca is interning with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center in San Francisco. Fun Fact: Rebecca has a great dane puppy named Sophia Loren.

Jacqueline Hang, Donations Chair. Jacqueline is a 2L from Los Angeles California. Jacqueline received her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley in Political Science. This summer she is working at the Board of Equalization. Fun Fact: Jacqueline is absurdly terrified of birds.

Chelsea Easton, Marketing Chair. is a 2L from Live Oak, CA. Chelsea received her undergraduate degree from CalPoly San Luis Obispo in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. This summer she is working for the Victims of Crime Resource Center as a Law Clerk, and for the library as botha research assistant and with the circulation desk. Fun Fact: her home town just got its second stoplight

Upcoming Events for the fall semester:
August 29: the annual “Progressive Dinner” an opportunity to mingle, get to know the new and returning members, and eat some delicious home cooking at the same time.
September 13: Live and Silent Auction, and Wine Tasting!
October 20: Breast Cancer walk in midtown. Plan to join women’s caucus in raising money and awareness to join forces and save the ta-tas.
Also throughout the semester we will be bringing back “Work out with Women’s Caucus”. Work outs will vary between yoga on the quad (or inside depending on the weather) and a run club!
At the end of the semester we will be bringing back our annual “Ugly Sweater Party” to get ready for the finals season, also plans are under way to put together a community service project off campus in the fall.
We already have some great events underway but are always open to more ideas from all of you.
