Look for an email early next week to all students, providing instructions on
how to register (first years) or re-register (returning students)
for ExamSoft. The email will provide individual’s user name and
password information, so be sure to “save” the email for
future reference. All students wishing to use their laptops for

From Analyst to Hero: How Big Data Led to Bin Laden – RSVP today, seating is limited!

Please join the World Affairs Council, the International Law Society and Women’s
Caucus on Monday, Sept. 15th from 5:30-7:30 PM in the
Courtroom for a special presentation moderated by former
McGeorge Dean, Elizabeth Rindskopf Parker. This presentation
features Cynthia Storer, a former CIA Senior Analyst who was part
of a team of CIA intelligence analysts who discovered obscure data
patterns signaling that Al-Qaeda was a coordinated and highly
dangerous threat. Her pioneering work helped lay the foundation for
the efforts of the analysts and targeting of officers who
eventually found Osama Bin Laden’s hideout. Her inspirational
message includes: believe in what you do, take responsibility,
trust your instincts, and think outside the box. Please RSVP to mcgeorgeevents@pacific.edu.

Phi Delta Phi Recruitment

Applications are being accepted for membership in Phi Delta Phi between September 3-17th! Please email Christine Dugger at c_dugger@u.pacific.edu for application materials or with any questions. Phi Delta Phi is the oldest legal organization in continuous existence in the United
States, predating even the American Bar Association. Phi Delta Phi
celebrates academic excellence and embraces the finest attributes
of professionalism and scholarship. Academic achievement alone is
not sufficient to give rise to an invitation to join Phi Delta Phi. Integrity, service, and excellence in all facets of human experience are considered factors for membership. Once accepted, a member of Phi Delta Phi will be recognized as one whose moral compass, academic ability, and personal integrity is beyond
reproach. In other words, membership is a mark of distinction.

Volunteer to be an International Student Mentor

Graduate and International Programs is looking for J.D. students who are willing
to help support and share their law school experience with a new
international student by joining the International Student
Mentorship Program. The mentorship program is designed to be an
essential resource and support system for our foreign LL.M. and
exchange students. Mentors will act as a resource for their mentees
by helping them with cultural adjustments, life at McGeorge, and
coping with academic demands. Throughout the academic year, mentors
and mentees are encouraged to stay in regular communication with
each other, typically spending social time together or catching up
in person at least once a month (preferably more to start). A
successful mentor-mentee relationship is a partnership, where both
mentor and mentee benefit by establishing a constructive
relationship and a lifelong connection.  It is also acceptable
to join together with another student to mentor two or three
students as a group.  Please indicate this preference on the
comment section of the application. If you are interested, please
contact Kristi Axtell at kaxtell@pacific.edu to get an application
or come by the Graduate and International Programs office in
Northwest Hall Room 103.

WE WANT YOU
– Admissions Office Looking for Student Ambassadors

The Admissions
Office is looking for student applicants to the Student Ambassador
Program for the 2014-2015 Academic Year. Volunteer student
ambassadors will serve as the face of Pacific McGeorge and assist
the admissions team in the recruitment process by giving tours,

students, and by attending on-campus and local off-campus
recruitment events. All upper division students are eligible to
apply and must submit a statement of interest, an unofficial law
school transcript, and a current resume. For a full program

Admissions, Diversity Initiatives & Financial Aid at tsimmons@pacific.edu.

Cost of
Attendance Survey

The Financial
Aid Office is conducting a short survey on student living
expenses. The survey is completely anonymous. The results will be
used to determine if our current cost of attendance budget is a
fair representation of student expenses or if we need to make
adjustments for the 2015-2016 academic year to more accurately
reflect students’ current expenditures. Please complete by Friday, September 12, 2014.

California, the McGeorge International Law Society & the
McGeorge Womens Caucus

5:30 – 7:30 PM
| Courtroom

Join the world affairs council, the McGeorge International Law Society and the

Data Led to Bin Laden”. Cindy Storer was part of a team of CIA
intelligence analysts – dubbed “The Sisterhood” – who
discovered obscure data patterns signaling that Al-Qaeda was a
coordinated and highly dangerous threat. Though the team raised the
alarm, few people listened. Then 9/11 changed the world. Cindy
became a key strategic analyst, helping the nation’s policymakers
frame their understanding of terrorism and Al-Qaeda. Her pioneering
work helped lay the foundation for the efforts of the analysts and
targeting of officers who eventually found Osama bin Laden’s
hideout, as depicted in the movie “Zero Dark Thirty.”
Cindy’s work with the CIA is featured in the Emmy-award winning
documentary, “Manhunt: The Search for Bin Laden” in which
she appears with a select group of America’s top Al-Qaeda experts
and analysts. In this riveting keynote address, Cindy tells the

Every year the
Student Animal Legal Defense Fund of McGeorge hosts an animal food
drive benefiting the dogs and cats in our community. The donated
food goes towards the Sacramento Pet Food Pantry and other various
non-profit rescues in the Sacramento area. We welcome pet food,
beds, dishes, collars, toys, towels, blankets, etc. All will be
donated and put to great use for the animals! For information,
please contact Jacqueline Logan at j_logan2@u.pacific.edu.
