U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Anthony M. Kennedy returns to teach in the 2014 Summer Salzburg Program!
Program Dates: July 6 to July 25
This marks the 25th anniversary of U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Anthony M. Kennedy teaching in Salzburg! Join us to celebrate this anniversary. Justice Kennedy will co-teach Freedom of Expression in Europe and the United States with Professor Sionaidh Douglas-Scott. This course considers issues of free expression arising in Europe and the United States, particularly with regard to government regulation of speech and of the press. Learn more here.

Law Students Needed to Serve as Judges
The California YMCA Youth & Government program is looking for law students to serve as judges for mock trials conducted by high school students. The volunteers will sit as the actual judge during the mock trials (i.e. wear the black robe, sustain/overrule objections, render a verdict, etc.). Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, February 16th, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The mock trials will take place in downtown Sacramento, at the Sacramento Superior Courthouse. Volunteer judges should have already successfully completed a course in Evidence. While not required, students who have taken trial advocacy or participated in mock trial are preferred. Bookstore Book Buy Back Period
The bookstore will have a representative on campus to perform book buy back on Tuesday and Wednesday January 14 and 15 from 9AM to 6PM in the Student Center near the Bookstore entrance. You can return used books from the fall semester for cash at that time.

2nd Annual McGeorge Negotiation Competition – Save the Date!

McGeorge Global Business & Law Society (MGBLS) invites everyone who is interested in transnational dispute resolution to join us for a free lunch and discussion. Two partners from transnational law firms, John L.Boos, K&L Gates LLP and George Harris, Morrison & Foerster LLP, will share their experience with international arbitration and discuss careers in this area of practice. Jack Boos is a partner in K&L Gates’ San Francisco office. His practice focuses on domestic and international business litigation, arbitration and mediation, investigations, construction, international expropriation and other claims, insurance coverage, intellectual property, employment, products and financial services. George Harris is Morrison & Foerster’s San Francisco office. His practice emphasizes appellate proceedings, international arbitration, and white collar criminal defense. He has represented clients in a wide range of complex civil and criminal litigation matters, including many high profile cases, at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal court and in commercial arbitrations, both domestically and internationally.
