Emerging Trends in Modern Warfare Symposium

On Friday, September 21, 2012, the Military Law Society hosted the Emerging Trends in Modern Warfare Symposium. The symposium was an all day event for students, faculty, and practicing attorneys and professionals discussing how changing technology and tactics have affected the way the United States operates overseas.

The first panel consisted of a representative from the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations who discussed some of the “boots on the ground” changes and issues that arise with the convergence of the military, intelligence, and law enforcement communities.

The second panel focused on Drone Warfare and was made up of Professor Gregory McNeal from Pepperdine University, Professor John Cary Sims from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and Ms. Anne Quintin from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The Military Law Society received support in hosting this event from McGeorge School of Law, the American Constitution Society, the Federalist Society, the McGeorge Capital Center for Public Law and Policy, and the Student Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association. In all, the event was a great success and one we hope to continue in the years to come.
