AB 1554 (Irwin) will ban powdered alcohol in California. Powdered alcohol is a dangerous new substance that will make it easier for kids to binge drink and abuse alcohol. This new form of alcohol is lightweight and odorless making it easy to conceal in a pocket or backpack. With the effort it takes you to add sugar to your morning coffee, a kid at the prom or in algebra class can have a bottle of vodka. Prevention and intervention of underage age drinking will be near impossible for even the most vigilant parent or teacher if powdered alcohol is allowed in our communities.

AB 1554 protects California’s children by targeting the manufacture, distribution, and sale of powdered alcohol, making it clear that California will stand with 27 other states and not put our next generation at risk for an alcoholic gimmick.
