ANNOUNCEMENTS, EVENTS, AND DEADLINES, FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Con Law/Jacobs & Property A/Coletta Students:

Profs. Jacobs & Coletta have requested that you be given an opportunity to review your recent multiple choice (MC) assessments, should you wish, in preparation for future assessments. We have established the following dates and times for each class’ review – most during your assigned “assessment & makeup” blocks on your academic schedule:

Constitutional Law – Jacobs

Tuesday, October 7 – 12:15 – 1:15 pm – Classroom G  (during lunch period/open period)

Thursday, October 9 – 8:30 – 9:30 am – Classroom A (during upper division assessment block period)

Property A — Coletta

Tuesday, October 7 – 3:45 – 4:45 pm – Classroom A (during first years assessment block period)

Thursday, October 9 – 9:15 – 10:15 am – Classroom G (during first years assessment block period)

The Faculty Support Office (FSO) staff will be proctoring these review sessions, so you must 1) check-in and receive materials [copy of the Key, your Scantron, copy of the MC Questions, post-it note, & pencil], 2) leave backpacks/phones in the podium well or against class wall, 3) space yourselves in every other seat, 4) not speak to anyone other than the proctor, and 5) return all materials to the proctor as in a “controlled” exam – check out then check in. To recap MC review procedures, you may only write the number of any question(s) you wish to further discuss with your professor – you may not write down the correct answers, your answers, or otherwise indicate placement of correct answers on your post-it.   No reservation is required – space is available on a drop-in basis, but we will close as the times indicate – we may need to turn students away if no space remains or ask that they wait until a seat opens up (or come back another day). After October 9th, any requests to view MC’s will be referred to Dean of Students McGuire for consideration.

We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to review your early MC assessments in preparation for your fall mid-terms.

Reading Tutors needed! Volunteer as a Reading Partner today!

Help make a difference in your community! Reading Partners is seeking volunteer tutors Monday through Thursday, between 9 AM and 5 PM. It is a one hour a week commitment. Volunteer hours count toward the Capital Commendation for Public Service. Bret Hart Elementary School is within walking distance of McGeorge. This program is eligible for pay under the federal work study program. The pay is $10 per hour. Reading Partners is a nonprofit organization that recruits and trains community volunteers to provide one-on-one literacy tutoring to students who are struggling with reading. Tutors deliver a highly effective, research validated curriculum and are supported by program staff who are onsite at all times. To sign up to be a Reading Partner, visit the Reading Partner website.  If you have any questions, please call (916) 996-0830 or email rachael.valler@readingpartners.org.

Fall Photo Shoot

Pacific McGeorge is getting ready for a Fall photo shoot! We are looking for individuals to join us and serve as “talent” in our promotional photos.  We will be solidifying a particular date and time in the next two weeks, so if you are willing to serve as models in these photos, please RSVP to Chad Tittle at ctittle@pacific.edu. Please send your email address, phone number and any dates and times that are excluded for you (i.e. – class schedule).  We are hoping to take most photos in the early am or in the eve around 6 PM.

Run for Student Bar Association (SBA) First Year Rep!

The SBA is the student organization that represents McGeorge School of Law before the American Bar Association (ABA). The ABA is the professional association of attorneys that govern the legal field and ABA accredited law school academic policies. The elections process for SBA First Year Representative will begin this week. Please contact the SBA Election Committee Chairs Sean Baird at s_baird2@u.pacific.edu and Jennifer Trotter at j_trotter@u.pacific.edu if you are interested in running for First Year Representative for more information. As the SBA First Year Representative, your primary duty will be to represent the interests of your class before the SBA Board.  As a voting member of the SBA Board, you will have a voice in the decision making process of the SBA.  Lastly, as First Year Representative, you will also be responsible for the “End of Year Party” celebrating the completion of your first year of law school.

ExamSoft – Registration and Uploading

Don’t forget to register (first years) or re-register (returning students) for ExamSoft! The registration page is here  (see email sent to all students on 9/8 for instructions).  You can then download any available exams. Reminders are sent to students who haven’t yet downloaded prior to exams, so always check your “u.pacific.edu” email at least once daily and especially during exam periods. Any questions, Dan Breuer in the Library can offer technical assistance at dbreuer@pacific.edu or contact the Faculty Support Office. Don’t wait until the last minute and then discover you have a computer issue.

Notice Regarding Payment of Student Club Dues at the Business Office

There are a couple of important things you need to know before coming to the business office to pay your club dues – these tips should save you time or the inconvenience of having to return to our office another time:

1.Our system does not have the capability of accepting credit or debit card transactions; we are able to accept cash or checks in form of payment.

2.You will need to know the amount your club charges for due as we do not have a list of charges in our office.

And, as always if you have questions we can help you answer please contact us by calling  916.739.7054 or by emailing the Business Office.
