Additional Study Space During Finals
Looking for more on campus space to prep for your final exams? We are glad to announce that during the reading period and through the end of the examination period, Classroom H will be open for QUIET STUDY (no conversations) and Classroom G will be open for GROUP STUDY (low conversations) from the time the Library closes until 2 a.m. each day. However, Public Safety reserves the right to close Classroom G if it is not being used after midnight on any night.
We encourage students well taking advantage of these new study spaces and existing study spaces to remember to utilize Public Safety “safe walk” escorts as well as remain aware of their surroundings, especially while utilizing these extended study hours late at night. |

Antigua, Guatemala

The Inter-American Summer Program in Guatemala is a truly bilingual and inter-cultural approach to legal education. Substantive law classes are taught in Spanish or English, depending on student proficiency. The program also offers Spanish language classes and bilingual field placements. Learn more here.
Kampala, Uganda
Courses: May 28 to June 20
Field Placement: June 23 to Aug. 8
The Law and Development Practicum in Uganda combines a seminar featuring topics in law and development and speakers in practice in East Africa with practical experience. Students work in teams on projects in a judge’s chamber or legal office. Ugandan law students study with American students. Learn more at here.

Stauffer Charitable Trust Award $5,000 Writing Competition
Writing a paper this year?! Want money?! Enter the Stauffer Charitable Trust writing competition for the chance to receive $5,000!
The details:
- The paper must have been written during the 2013-2014 academic year.
- The paper should address any matter of major social concern involving California law.
- The paper can be any length, though brevity and succinctness is encouraged.
- The paper will be judged on thoroughness and accuracy of research and legal analysis, organization, logical development of thesis, clarity of expression, originality, and appropriateness of subject matter. All papers should reflect creative thinking.
- Citations to authority must conform to the style for law review articles or the style for court documents and legal memoranda as set out in either BlueBook or the ALWD Citation Manual.
To enter the competition, your final paper with a cover letter directing your paper to the Stauffer Charitable Trust Award Committee must be submitted to the Faculty Support Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 14, 2014. Entrepreneur’s Showcase

The event will feature short pitches by 10 promising Sacramento startups, as well as “trade show” presentations by several Pacific law and business school students about their own ideas. In addition, there will be opportunities to network and meet regional leaders from Sacramento’s entrepreneurship and investment communities. This will be an excellent event to attend for those interested in learning about new developments and opportunities related to entrepreneurship and business in the Sacramento region.
The Entrepreneur’s Showcase will be part of a week of events that involve policymakers, entrepreneurs, and investors interested in the development of the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
