Sports and Activities

SELS: We were planning on splitting the cost of the event. We were trying to tap into activities committee for $500 and we were gonna have SELS cover $500. They have $1,000 in their account. The event will cost about $1,500 in total. Initially we requested $1,000. We are buying $45 tickets and reselling them for $15. We are expecting bout 30 people. We will still have money for food and drinks. SELS only has a $70 meeting budgeted for next meeting and $400 for spring so they would like to help out.

Bahar: I got their funding request they resubmitted it. So it’s going to be $500 from SELS and $500 from sports committee.

Ryan: The initial thousand is buying group rate tickets. After that if there are more people who are going to want to join. If it goes beyond that amount SELS is willing to fund the extra amount.

Bahar: Have you talked to Rebekah? The only issue I think that would come up is since it is off campus, will we have to worry about transportation?

Brittany: Other clubs drove themselves

Ryan: Everyone will sponsor themselves as far as driving and they will know that.

Nikki: Are you only selling to McGeorge students?

Ryan: Only students. It will be open to students only and if other students want to come their tickets will not be subsidized.

Bahar: Put our logo on all advertisements. My only concern is you are having 20 tickest purchased and SELS will cover the rest, how much is the rest?

Ryan: Since this is taking longer than I thought it will be difficult for me to get more than 20.

Derek: So it’s not an unlimited number?

Ryan: No. If 35 want to come I will try and accommodate it. So I was asking for another 500 for them but most likely only 500.

Bahar: If they have money we would usually only give clubs that have no money. If you have that much in your account it’s hard for me to want to give the club $500 in addition to what they have. They can definitely give that $500 they want and then come in here for requests.

Ryan: I’m not sure that they know how to request money out of their account.

Mary: So the $1000 is for 20 tickets?

Ryan: It will be $900 for tickets

Mary: My concern is that you are going to have a lot of people who are interested.

Ryan: As long as the response is quick enough then I will be able to provide.

Mary :SO if you got interest for 40-45 tickets how would you handle that?

Ryan: Since we will have a table we will be able to have first come first serve.

Chanel: Maybe have tickets resold for $20 that way you can accommodate more people.

Motion to approve sports committee spending $500 of their budget to spend their money on tickets.

BALSA

Chance: We’re hosting academic series with torts and crim law review with professors. Right now because the amount is over $250 we have to go through bon appetite. We think it’s about 55 per person. $2.50 a person. It’s about 545 per person.

Bahar: Tell us what the event is?

Chance: The academic success series. Professors from crim law, torts and properties will go over questions. We will go over reviewing previous midterms.

Courtney: So the money will go for coffee and snacks.

Mary: Only for day students?

Chance: As far as I know

Courtney: But just because event is during the day it’s not closed for students only.

Chance: Property is 12-1, crim law 5-6 on Tuesday

Mary: So it is open to evening students

Courtney: In theory but the funds are accommodating for day students

Nikki: So the events for three days?

Courtney: So if you do get a bigger interest in this and more people show up what is expected?

Chance: We’re trying to do it by November

Nikki: Why aren’t you spending the 2k in your account?

Chance: We have family barbecue and one other events.

Derek: Motion to approve $250 in full

Yoga:

Hannah: We are scheduling two yoga classes during finals. We are requesting $100 this time to have snacks to draw in members.

Derek: So you have the event request

Hannah: So it’s hard to know when to plan them because everyone has different schedules. I wanted to plan them during finals so more people can come since they don’t have class. The days are the 3rd and the 10th.

Derek: Instructor is how much?

Hannah: $50
