Anthony: Call this meeting to order. Everyone read the agenda for this meeting.

Chanel: Motion to Approve agenda

Mary: Second

Anthony: All those in favor: unanimous yay

Approval of the minutes from last weeks meeting:

Nicole: Motion to Approve last meetings minutes

Jess: Second

Anthony: All those in favor – unanimous yay

Anthony: Let’s talk about the coffee machine.

Derek: It’s in there

Anthony: So how is it going to work? How is clean up going to work?

Derek: It’s self contained and a trash can building and grounds will clean. Hopefully there won’t be any spills but if it becomes an issue it will be worked out.

Anthony: Just for my personal understanding they are going to take the water from the water fountain?

Derek: Yes. I’m going to have an instruction thing next to it so it shows students how to use it.

Jess: So where is it?

Anthony: Walk through the main door and walk to the stairs that right before the door leading outside. Thank you for putting that together Derek.

Derek: I would to incorporate into the budget for wellness for pods.

Anthony: Put together a budget and bring it to the board for next weeks meeting. Alrighty let’s move onto the committee update

Mary: The curriculum committee went through the schools curriculum and I brought a few things for people to look at that explains. It was basically to confirm the curriculum that professor John Kirlin put together. The committee consists of Professor Kelso, Professor Brown, Dean Colatrella, Dean Landsberg, Professor Manolakas, Professor McCaffrey, Professor Myers, Professor Salcido and Professor Smith

Anthony: Did they give you any indication about a future meeting?

Mary: It was voted on and they indicated meeting monthly.

Nicole: They will be meeting once a month but if there is nothing for them to discuss they will not be meeting.

Mary: The business program will be moved from Sacramento state to this campus.

Nicole: They will be having a class that helps you speak in front of the legislator and other public events.

Anthony: Ahnna Reicks will be on wellness committee again, she reached out to Rebekah to be put on it.

Derek: The soccer club will be meeting for the first time this week. All the fields were taken this week so we had to reserve the field. We’re moving to try and stake a claim somewhere so that we can have a set place. We have a lot to discuss tomorrow.

Nicole: Another thing to discuss is whether or not soccer wants to go into a competitive league and that way they would have to pay for the team.

Derek: Are we going to move them out of the intermural sports?

Anthony: Yes because they are officially a club and then they cannot be able to have both funds of the sports committee and a chartered club. Let us know next meeting what they are going to do.

Jordan: I would suggest the first two weeks funding through the clubs start up funds of $150 and then decide where to go from there.

Start up Funds

Anthony: We discussed putting that up to $200. We told students that it is $150 and now we will discuss as a board raising it at the discretion of this board. I have the language here

Put in language

Jordan: The word relative pins us into a particular thing.

Anthony: What would be your suggested change?

Jess: How about taking into consideration of any deficits or surpluses available in the budget.

Derek: How about we take out “or less” from A if we are changing B because it is not necessary.

Anthony: Any further language changes?

Jordan: Motion to approve the language with changes

Mary: Second

Anthony: Now does someone have a motion for bylaws?

Crystal: I move to increase the start up funds available to $200
Nicole: Second

Anthony: All in favor – unanimous yays

Anthony: Bahar if you can give us the new budget taking that into account as well.

Bahar: Does the start up funds come out of the original $3000?

Anthony: Yes it does. If you hear of any presidents who have not gotten the start up funds form please let me or Bahar know and we will get them a copy. Any other questions on start up funds?

Welcome back event

Anthony: Nope. Okay next we are going to speak about the welcome back events. It is always tough coming back after the summer. I want to do something for each class to have something for coming back together. They would all be on the same day but not the same time. The third year students I will have to talk to Jess and Crystal to see what days are better.

Crystal: I’ve been looking at Wednesday’s because a lot of us are in remedies. I saw a ton of people Wednesday so I’m thinking Wednesday to be the best.

Jess: Due to judicial internships I haven’t seen most of our classmates on campus on Wednesday’s so that may be difficult. I mean evening wise are we trying to do a day event for the 3Ls? How about the lunch hour on Thursdays but maybe we can work a Wednesday and we all are kind of taking the same classes.

Anthony: I just pushed it that way for planning purposes.

Jess: Were you thinking right before class at 5?

Crystal: Yes

Jess: I think we can make that work

AJ: This is not the event that the reps do throughout the year, this is just a separate event I will plan it I just want to know what days work for you.

Jess: A lot of the 3L students are in the Family law class too so that will work.

AJ: How do Wednesday and Thursday work for the 2L 3E’s and 2E’s?

Courtney: My thought is Thursday because a lot of my classmates are taking ITAP evidence or evidence in the evenings?

Derek: What do you think Brittany about Wednesdays?

Courtney: Evening students get very upset if we do things before 5 when they cannot be here.

Anthony: It’s not something they would have to stay at just a quick grab a snack or something. And again this is not something the reps have to plan I will be doing this for you. We have a surplus so I want there to still be a bit of a surplus going into next year but this is the students money and I want to do something that puts students at ease. So for first year day students the proposed date is the 24th. 1D and 1E are still in the shock of starting so we will plan something for them. I’ll come back next week with dates and we will also be voting on funding. I did not put this on the agenda but would it be possible Bahar to send the board a finalized copy of the budget before next meeting?

Jordan: I have a question. Are we going to get the e-mail list for our mentees out? I’d like to get in touch with mine.

Anthony: Yes we will

Mary: Can people still sign up?

Anthony: We’re good because we got some new mentors from the day and evening class.

Brittany: I have something. On Friday, Mary McGuire and Rebekah were not happy that we did not make an event request for our meetings. We need to figure out who will be doing that.

Anthony: I will

Brittany: That is why no one was here.

Anthony: Let’s make sure we get them in for every Sunday until Labor day. Chanel will not be here next week so who would like to take meeting minutes next week?

Courtney: I will do it.

Anthony: Okay now any comments or questions.

Chanel: Motion to adjourn

Derek: Second

Anthony: All in favor – unanimous yays.
